Here we are in July four months into lockdown & not a good start weather-wise but in true W.I spirit we will not let it get us down.

Our July meeting saw us on our 2nd zoom which 16 of our members attended, we can all be proud of ourselves embracing all this new technology.

Our speaker was Kath Reynolds who gave a talk on Afternoon Tea at Grandmas.

Kath took us on a journey back in time! This brought back memories that most of us remembered, we even had our own cups of tea, although one or two decided a tipple was better!! We reminisced on spam sandwiches, cucumber & onion in vinegar followed by Birds Trifle or Tinned Fruit Cocktail and Coronation milk all washed down with a nice strong cup of Typhoo tea in the beautifully decorated cups produced in the potteries of course! At the end of the talk we had a chance to catch up with everyone before the meeting ended, everyone agreed it was a very enjoyable evening.

What else have we been up too?! We are still doing our acts of kindness for people in the village. This month was the recipients were Mike & Sheila Foulkes who both do a lot for Macmillan. It was also Mikes 80th Birthday. June arranged one of her lovely bouquets and Jean made a fruit cake.

Hopefully, our August meeting can be held outdoors when we plan to have a socially distanced picnic with everyone bringing their own food, drink & chairs this will be following the government guidelines.

We would love to hear any members lock down stories or even any up and coming ladies wishing to join our WI.

Jean & Wendy,

Committee members.
