GNOSALL PARISH NEWS
Produced by publishers of The Popular Village Monthly
Gnosall Singers “Spread a Little Happiness” with their summer concert of popular music performed before an appreciative audience at Moreton’s Millennium Hall.
The July 20th programme ranged from popular modern songs like Sailing and Georgie Girl, to timeless classics including Anything You Can Do and A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, and the traditional sounds of Londonderry Air and The Oak and the Ash. Choir leader Anne Robotham conducted and Elizabeth Gledhill was the piano accompanist.
The second half was kicked off with a fun filled rendition of Pedro The Fisherman enthusiastically acted out by Helen Matthews, John Lofty, Geoff Gledhill, Steve Torrington and Gerry Dale. Proceeds from the evening went to Gfest.
Gnosall Singers Donations
“In spite of regularly giving to local charities from the proceeds of successful concerts over many years, Gnosall Singers realised that their membership subscriptions had produced a tidy sum in the Bank account, more than was needed to purchase music and run the choir. Therefore, it was agreed by the members, that the surplus should be donated to the charities that we have supported in rotation from our concerts. This has allowed us to give £400 each to the following local organisations: Katharine House Hospice; Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes; Riding for the Disabled;Gnosall and District Community First Responders and Midlands Air Ambulance.A donation was also made to GGs Youth Club who meet at the Grosvenor Centre. The funds have accumulated in no small part due to the generosity of our choir leader and accompanist who have given freely of their time and talents to allow us to enjoy singing; and we wish to acknowledge this.”
